Spring is here and summer is quickly approaching! Get ready for a summer of relaxation with this essential home maintenance checklist! From outdoor upkeep to indoor comfort, keep your home shining all season long.


  1. Inspect and Clean Gutters: Remove any debris such as leaves, sticks, or nests from gutters and downspouts to ensure proper drainage during the rainy season.

  2. Check Roof: Inspect the roof for any damaged or missing shingles. Look for signs of leaks or water damage and address any issues promptly.

  3. Inspect Exterior: Walk around the exterior of your home to check for cracks in the foundation, damaged siding, or peeling paint. This is also a good time to replace any caulking around windows, doors, and trim. Repair or touch up as needed.

  4. Service HVAC System: Schedule a professional inspection and maintenance of your air conditioning system to ensure it's functioning efficiently during the hot summer months.

  5. Clean Outdoor HVAC Unit: Remove any debris such as leaves, grass clippings, or dirt from the outdoor condenser unit to maintain proper airflow.

  6. Test Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Replace batteries if necessary and test all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are working properly.

  7. Inspect and Clean Windows: Check for any damaged or cracked window panes and repair or replace as needed. Clean windows inside and out for optimal visibility and natural light.

  8. Inspect and Clean Outdoor Furniture: Clean outdoor furniture thoroughly and inspect for any signs of wear or damage. Repair or replace as necessary to ensure comfort and longevity.

  9. Check Deck and Patio: Inspect deck boards, railings, and stairs for any signs of rot or damage. Clean and reseal or stain as needed to protect against the elements.

  10. Trim Trees and Shrubs: Trim back any overgrown trees or shrubs to prevent them from touching the house or obstructing pathways.

  11. Inspect Sprinkler System: Test your sprinkler system to ensure all components are working properly. Adjust sprinkler heads as needed for optimal coverage and to insure they are not spraying against your home.

  13. Check and Clean BBQ Grill: Inspect your grill for any signs of wear or damage, and clean the grates and burners thoroughly to remove grease and debris.
